I am a doctoral student working on a dissertation proposal regarding nonprofit organizations in Minnesota.
How do you determine which charities meet your accountability standards? Can I get a copy of your criteria?
PFP
Thanks for your interest, Paul. Our criteria are our Accountabililty Standards described and downloadable at
http://smartgivers.org/AccountabilityStandards09.html .
Nonprofits voluntarily complete a self assessment through our online Accountability Wizard. Our staff verifies their responses and makes the ultimate conclusion on whether the org meets each standard. During this process we provide technical assistance to help the organization make changes where needed, in order to meet the standards. The more orgs meeting standards, the more good choices for donors.
